Meet the Teacher:
My name is Shantay Barnes. I was born and raised in Brookhaven, MS, where I now reside with my husband. I currently teach 2nd - 6th Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) at Topeka-Tilton Attendance Center. I also serve as Junior Beta Club Sponsor, Assistant Archery Coach, Yearbook Sponsor, and on the TTAC's Leadership Team. I feel truly blessed to work at Topeka Tilton Attendance Center and in the Lawrence County School District!
 
I have received degrees from Co-Lin, Ole Miss (Hotty Toddy), and William Carey University. My teaching career began in 2003, and I have served most of my years in the Lawrence County School District. Throughout my career I have taught 4th - 12th grade in one of the following areas: Special Education (Jr. High/HS), English (5th, 7th-9th)), Band (HS), Theater (HS), Chorus (Jr. High), Technology Classes (Jr. High), Gifted Education (5th/6th grade), Math (5th/6th), Science (5th), & Social Studies (5th).
